TePe Sigeman Chess Tournament 2026
The Limhamn Chess Club is proud to invite the players, the chess community, the media and the sponsors to the 31st annual TePe Sigeman Chess Tournament. The tournament will take place May 1-7 2026, at the Elite Plaza Hotel in central Malmo. Eight players will play seven rounds, and this time the field will really be something extra!
This year we welcome back multiple world champion Magnus Carlsen, Norway, 22 years after he made his first appearance in the then Sigeman & Co Chess Tournament. His main challenger will probably be the recent winner of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament and the winner of the 2024 TePe Sigeman Chess Tournament, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Uzbekistan.
We also welcome back some other old acquaintances: the winner of the 2021 TePe Sigeman Chess Tournament, Jorden van Foreest, Netherlands, the runner-up in the 2022 and 2024 tournament, Arjun Erigaisi, India, and the runner-up in last year’s tournament, 15-year-old Yağız Kaan Erdoğmuş, Turkiye.
Finally, we welcome 3-time shared winner of the TePe Sigeman Chess Tournament, Nils Grandelius, Sweden, as well as the winner of the 2026 Tata Steel Chess Challengers, 15-year-old Andy Woodward, USA, and the number 2 on the FIDE Women’s rating list, Jiner Zhu, China.
Once again, we hope chess fans around the globe take the opportunity to see world-class chess live. You will be able to follow all games live, guided by our commentators, Swedish GM Stellan Brynell and Dutch GM Erwin l’Ami. For those of you who are not able to visit Malmo and the Elite Plaza Hotel during the tournament, it will, of course, be possible to follow all games and the commentators live on the Internet
