The Organizing Committee announces that the registration deadline for the participants of the World Youth Chess Championship U14, U16, U18 2023 has been extended to September 30, 2023.

FIDE World Youth Championship 2023: Registration is open

FIDE and the Italian Chess Federation, together with UniChess, invite all national chess federations to participate in the World Youth Chess Championships 2023, which will take place in Montesilvano, Italy. The dates are November 12 (arrivals) to November 25 2023 (departures).

Round 1 FIDE World Youth Chess Championships 2023

Every National Federation can register one official player in each category (under 14, 16, 18 years old, open and girls). The organizers invite six official players plus one accompanying person (captain/trainer) from each national federation.

The players placed 1-3 in the previous U14, U16, and U18 World Youth Championships, and the respective Champions of the last Continental Youth Championships have the personal right to participate in the corresponding age category.

The registration deadline is on September 20, 2023.

INVITATION
The organizers, International Chess Federation FIDE and Romanian Chess Federation
together with Chess Club Universul and Chess Club Juniorul Constanta, are inviting all
national chess federations of FIDE to participate in the World Youth Chess
Championships 2022. The dates are 5 September (arrivals, technical meeting) to 17
September 2022 (departures).

PARTICIPATION

2.1. Every National Federation can register one official player in each category (under
14, 16, 18 years old, open and girls). This total of six (6) Official Players plus one
Accompanying Official (captain/trainer with a valid FIDE Trainer license) belonging
to the national federation are invited by the Organizers. A player must not have
reached his/her 14th, 16th or 18th birthday, respectively, before 1st January 2022.
2.2. The players placed 1-3 in the previous U14, U16, U18 World Youth
Championships, and the respective Champions of the last Continental Youth
Championships, shall have the personal right to participate in the World Youth
Championships of the corresponding age-category or a higher age-category if the age
stipulation of Art. 2.1 above is met. Such players shall also be classified as Official
Players and have to be registered by the national federation.
2.3. Players, other than Official Players, shall be classified as Additional Players. All
other persons, other than players or the Accompanying Officials, shall be classified as
Accompanying Persons. Each National Federation shall be responsible for all the
costs of their Additional Players and Accompanying Persons.
2.4. In order to provide appropriate tournament conditions, the Federations must
complete carefully the official online registration form and submit to the Organizers
by Wednesday, 20 July 2022. After this deadline, the official players cannot be
registered as invited players. Further participations may not be accepted, or an
additional fee of 80 € (euros) may be requested according to the FIDE regulations.

Due to the many travel restrictions still in force all around the world, the FIDE Council has approved postponing several events, initially scheduled for 2021.

With multiple states across the world still under lockdown and uncertainty remaining around border controls, the FIDE Council decided to postpone the following international tournaments until 2022:

The decision was made following the recommendations of the World Health Organization, national sports authorities in the hosting countries, and concerns expressed by many participants and national federations.

As for the World Amateur Championship 2021, which is scheduled to take place in Rhodes, Greece, from October 17th to October 27th 2021,  the dates will remain unchanged. However, the tournament organiser is obliged to require the participants to get fully vaccinated with any COVID-19 vaccines or provide a valid negative COVID-19 test and run regular testing as COVID-safety measures.

FIDE is also considering postponing some remaining 2021 competitions to 2022. We will keep monitoring the situation, and an announcement will be made as early as possible.
