The Sinquefield Cup is a 10-player classical round-robin taking place in the Saint Louis Chess Club from 2-11 September 2022. It’s the fifth and final stage of the 2022 Grand Chess Tour, a series of five events with a total prize fund of $1.4 million.

The players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

The Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz is the 4th stage on the 2022 Grand Chess Tour, a series of five events with a total prize fund of $1.4 million. The 10-player event takes place from August 26-31 and has a $40,000 top prize.

The rapid is a single round-robin on the first 3 days with a time control of 25 minutes for all moves and a 10-second increment from move 1. The final 2 days are a blitz double round-robin, with 18 rounds of 5+2 blitz. Rapid games count double, with 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw.

$210,000 and a $100,000 Bitcoin bonus is at stake in the 7-round all-play-all tournament. Each match consists of 4 rapid games on the chess24 Playzone, with the winner earning $7,500 (3 points). If the match is tied there’s a blitz tiebreak, with 2 blitz games followed, if needed, by a single Armageddon game.

The winner earns $5,000 (2 points) and the loser $2,500 (1). For each rapid game the players have 15 minutes for all their moves, with a 10-second increment after each move. For blitz games it’s 5 minutes and a 3-second increment, while for the Armageddon game White has 5 minutes to Black’s 4, but a draw counts as a win for Black. No draw offers are allowed before move 40.

The tournament is played as a double round-robin (all play all twice) with 14 rounds. The time control for each game is 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 60 minutes for the next 20 moves and then 15 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move 61. The players cannot draw a game by agreement before black’s 40th move. A claim for a draw before black’s 40th move is permitted only in cases of a draw by threefold repetition or a stalemate. If there is a tie for first place after 14 rounds, a playoff to determine the winner shall be played.
