5th Paytakht Cup, International Chess Festival

Invitation Tehran Chess Association under auspices of Chess Federation of I. R. Iran has the honor to invite all National Chess Federations of FIDE and interested players to participate in the “5th Paytakht Cup, International Chess Festival” which will be held from February 3rd to 11th, 2023 in Tehran, Iran.

Category A Players with FIDE rating 2100 and above Note: Organizer reserves the right to allow limited number of players with FIDE rating below 2100.
Category B Players with FIDE rating 2100 and below
Category C Boys and girls under 14 years’ old (Born on January 1st, 2009 and after).

Tournament Rules

Tournament System: The tournament will be played in:

Category A 9-round Swiss system
Category B & C 11-round Swiss system

 Swiss-Manager based on ratings will be used for pairing in all categories. In addition, it is possible to do pairings using the acceleration system.

Time Control: Category A & B & C: 90 minutes for all moves with 30 seconds increment per move, starting from the first move. The default time is 30 minutes. Any player who arrives at the chessboard after the 30 minutes shall lose the game unless the arbiter decides otherwise.

Entry fee:

GMs and WGMs and ratings above 2500 Free
IMs and WIMs and ratings above 2400 Free
FMs and WFMs 80 Euros
Seniors (born on 1973 and older) 80 Euros
Other players 80 Euros

 Deadline of registration is January 20th, 2023. For the late registrations, the entry fee will be 100 Euros.
 The payments should be done upon arrival.

Prizes

The total prize fund of all categories is 3.000.000.000 Rials.

 Each player is awarded only one prize (the higher one).
 The prizes are in Rial. In case that one wants his/her prize in Euro, the organizer will change the amount to Euro and pay it.

Venue and Accommodation

 The venue and the official hotel are in “Varzesh hotel” in Hejab Street, Tehran.
 The organizer will provide full board accommodation for GMs.
 Other players can use the facilities at their own expense.
